How
can I setup the printer on the NetTerminal as a Print Server?
The
following steps describe setting up the printer as a remote printer
using LPD protocol:
- From
the NetTerminal System Administration screen press +d and
select the port you want to configure the printer. For example,
press L to configure the LPT1 (parallel) port.
- In
the Usage box select Printer and press to save.
- A
confirmation dialog box will appear asking, "Do you want to configure
print services for LPT1?"
- Press
y or and the Print service configuration menu will come
up.
- In
the Client access dialog box select the LPD option.
- In
Queue name enter any desired name you want to call your printer.
For example, netlp1
- Select
the desired option in the Options dialog under the Output processing
dialog.
- Press
to save the settings. At this time your NetTerminal is
ready to work as a printer server.
Configuring
the Server side: Note: The following steps only provide an example
of how to setup SCO Open Server 5 for LPD options.

Login as root and go to the Print Manger from scoadmin -> Printer->
Print Manager.
- From
the Printer menu select Add Remote

new box will pop up asking the type of server. Select UNIX and

a)
In the Host dialog box enter the name of the NetTerminal defined
in /etc/host file.
b)
In the Printer dialog box enter the queue name of the printer
defined in the NetTerminal Queue name field.
- Note:
If you see the option "Use extended remote printing protocol"
de-select this option. This option is only visible in version
5.0.4d and above version of SCO Open Server 5.
- Press
to save the settings once the screen is updated you will
see your printer name in the Print Manager screen.
- To
test your printer you can send a file to the printer by typing:
lp ¨dnetlp1 /etc/hosts.
